Khara Pongal Recipe | South Indian

Khara Pongal is a very famous Breakfast is South Indian Kitchens and Restaurants.  It is tasty and yummy dish prepared with healthy ingredients.

Khara Pongal

Ingredients of Khara Pongal:


 

  • Green gram – 100 grams

  • Rice – 250 grams

  • Chili – 250 grams

  • Grated dry coconut – 1 cup

  • Cashews

  • Peppercorn - 1 spoon smashed.

  • Ginger smashed.

  • Turmeric Powder.

  • Salt for taste.

  • Coriander Leaves - 1 small cup.

  • Curry Leaves.

  • Jeera powder or jeera.

  • Ghee – 50 grams


Preparation Method:



  • Fry green gram. Add rice and mix it well.

  • Add water - 500 ml.

  • Place the contents in a pressure cooker until it is cooked.

  • For Seasoning - Fry oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, chili slices, curry leaves, turmeric powder, ginger smashed, cashews.

  • Add cooked rice to the pan and mix well.

  • Add salt for taste. Garnish the contents with little ghee, peppercorn and coriander leaves.
