    Dosa Recipe

    Dosa is a common breakfast dish prepared in South Indian homes. It's prepared using rice and urad dal. Variety of dosa can be prepared. The one described here is the very simple one.

    Ingredients of Dosa


    1. Parboiled rice 2.5 cup
    2. Urad dal 1 cup
    3. Fenugreek seeds 1 tsp
    4. Salt to taste.
    5. Oil for frying.

    Preparation of Dosa


    Soak rice for 4 hours in a vessel and urad and fenugreek in another one for 4-5 hours.
    Grind urad dal and fenugreek seed to make a fine paste and then grind rice into a fine paste.
    Mix the paste together. Add salt to it and keep the batter overnight to ferment.
    Heat tawa. smear a little oil in tawa. (If u use nonstick tawa we can avoid putting oil).
    Pour a ladle full of batter and spread continuously and quickly in spiral motion.
    Fry for 1-2 minute and turn dosa and fry it for another few minutes until the dosa becomes golden brown.
    Remove from heat.
    Repeat the same procedure with the remaining batter.

    • Dosa tastes good with sambar coconut chutney and Onion Chutney.
